snackface Snack Break: Salt & Vinegar Realness
When it comes to snack foods, chips are the queen. There is nothing else easier, saltier, crunchier, more satisfying or more delicious than chomping away on a chip. Chips are basically synonymous with snacks.
They get a bad rap for (I guess) good reason: It's all too easy to get carried away eating chip after chip, and before you know it you've eaten the whole Family Sized bag. Listen, it happens. Whatever. Move on.
The point is, I truly believe in simply enjoying chips, no further thought beyond just tasting and having a grand time. Counting them is just plain old sad. (Honestly, WHAT are serving sizes anyway?) I'm here to tell you snacking is OK. And it doesn't always have to be a long-roasted, green vegetable version of the thing you actually want to eat in order for it to be OK.
Snacking diatribe aside, when I want chips, I really want salt and vinegar chips. So this week, I tested three brands to see which is the best.
This week, I found all three brands at Erewhon. This keeps happening because it's my favorite grocery store within walking distance.
Kettle Brand Sea Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips: My initial thought with selecting Kettle Brand chips was, "Well, duh, of course these are going to be good." However, a part of me expected these to fall short in some way. Watch the video above to see how I really felt about these, but I'll just say....
Would I buy these again? Uh, absolutely. Over and over.
Jackson's Honest Sea Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips: The Jackson's Honest sea salt and vinegar potato chip is like the Vegas impersonator of the Kettle Brand. You enjoy it for what it is, but you know it's not the real deal.
Would I buy these again? They're not terrible, but no. I need more salt, I need more vinegar.
The Real Coconut Sea Salt & Vinegar Coconut Flour Tortilla Chips: I now realize that in hindsight, this chip was already at a disadvantage because it's not of the potato variety. I absolutely LOVED the chipotle barbecue rendition of this brand's chip in my first Snack Break, so I was hoping this would be as good. It was hard to hide how not good it turned out to be in this week's video.
Would I buy these again? Nope.
Watch for the winner of the week! Keep snacking, babes.
Ciao for now,
Kailey
