Beauty Brunch: Classic Hollywood Glam
Daring to attempt a cat eye any day is scary. Daring to do a cat eye LIVE in front of thousands on an app? Even scarier.
But cat eye and classic Hollywood glam is what viewers have been requesting since the start, so I faced my own fears and did the damn thing! I must say, it turned out better than I anticipated (yet not as well as I had practiced it the night prior in the mirror with full access to both my hands).
Go ahead, get in there. Check out every pore and bump and hair that should have been plucked.
For this look, I went with matte everything. Matte eye shadow, matte liner, matte liquid lipstick (I do not enjoy a red gloss). I also happened to find the best liquid liner of all time.
I spent 30 minutes in Sephora swatching all sorts of liquid liners before Googling, "best liquid eyeliner." Clinique's Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen popped up several times, and I ended up going for it because 1) the price point ($19.50), 2) the ease of the pen, 3) the quick-drying, matte finish and 4) I love Clinique.
After testing it a couple times before Beauty Brunch, I can honestly say the liner lives up to the internet hype.
Here's the step-by-step for the glam:
-Prep skin with Clinique moisturizer and Glossier Invisible Shield
-Dab L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation over face until even
-Using a makeup sponge, conceal under eyes, around the nose, chin with Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer
-Set with Physicians Formula translucent mineral face powder
-Gently brush blush on apples of cheeks and up cheekbones using the pink shade from e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder palette
-Highlight with Lorac Moonlight on top of cheekbones, tip of nose, cupid's bow
-Fill in brows with Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in shade 3
-Prime lids with Sephora Beauty Amplifier Lid & Liner Primer
-Using Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette: cover lid with White Chocolate
-Using L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude 2, blend the mushroom grey (it has no name, I'm just calling it this) just above the crease of your eye; gently tap the same color under the bottom lash line (goal here is not a line-- just a boost of definition on the bottom to balance the weight of the cat eye)
-With Clinique Pretty Easy Eyelining Pen, draw your cat eye. I started in the outer corner and worked my way in. I also held my breath during all of this...
-Apply 2-3 coats of Maybelline Colossal Big Shot mascara on lashes; follow up with another coat of Maybelline Lash Sensational (I know, so EXTRA with the mascara but the Lash Sensational does an excellent job of separating and defining lashes)
-Finish eyes by applying a matte white eye shadow to inner corners of eyes and lining bottom waterline with white liner (I used this NYX rendition)
-Prep lips with Tarte Lip Facial
-Carefully apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in American Doll
