Super Green Hydration Smoothie
If you’re looking for major hydration, an instant boost of energy, and want to get in some vegetables first thing in the morning, this is the smoothie for you. This recipe is a mashup of Melissa Wood’s Spirulina smoothie and Kenzie Burke’s Tropical Bub smoothie. It has morphed over time to my preferences and whatever I tend to have on hand.
This produces a LOT of liquid, and frankly, this feels more like a juice than a smoothie to me. Because this is all fruit, vegetables, and coconut water, it digests very quickly and you will be hungry in about an hour. I usually eat toast or frozen waffles (LOL) with nut butter after I have this. I also want to note that both Melissa and Kenzie (mentioned above) follow food combining, and while I do not follow that food philosophy, I do draw inspiration from all sorts of recipes and love, love, love this smoothie. I feel BUZZED on vitamins after I have this.
Ingredients
3 romaine leaves, roughly chopped
1/4 large cucumber, peeled
1-inch chunk ginger, peeled
1 pitted date (unpictured)
1 banana, preferably frozen
1 C mango, frozen
1 T spirulina
coconut water to fill and cover ingredients
How To
add all ingredients to blender, starting with frozen and ending with liquid
blend until smooth
Depending on how much liquid you add, this can yield one to two servings (which I always just drink at once). It’s incredibly refreshing and feels nourishing first thing in the morning.
Ciao for now,
Kailey
