Sephora Run: Peach Palette & the Best Face Bronzer
As the season turns from rainy, LA winter to sun for days, it's time to warm up the beauty routine as well.
In the beauty department, I have a tendency to stick to what I know. That means I'll use the same Too Faced Chocolate Bar for a year straight without mixing it up if I don't force myself to try something new. I will always gravitate to a golden, neutral eye and a glossy lip...but not anymore! The sun is shining brightly and so is my willingness and desire to try beautiful, bold colors. In fact, I'm experimenting with a new look weekly on my new live.ly show, Beauty Brunch. You can catch it every week at 10am PT on Saturday.
With the sun giving me new life, I did what any beauty junkie looking for a fix would do: I ran right into the always welcoming arms of Sephora. Here's the DL what I stocked up on...
Too Faced Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Collection
Palette, $49: This peach-scented palette has been on my wishlist for months, so I finally went for it. I've been a Too Faced eye shadow devotee since high school--they're really some of the best pigments that last all day. Not to mention they're just plain fun. Many pink and peach-inspired looks are the near future.
Benefit Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer
Bronzer, $28: I wear SPF 70 year-round on my face for many reasons but largely because I don't want any more wrinkles than I already have. The 70 presents an issue when the rest of me is golden but my face is ghostly, and that's where Dew the Hoola comes in. One to two pumps gives me even, sun-kissed coverage from face to neck without having to risk actual UV-ray exposure. Last year, one bottle of this lasted about four or five months. Just remember to blennnnnd with this one.
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Lipstick in Queen B
Lipstick, $21: Months ago, I received a sample of Melted Matte at work and tried it as soon as I was in the safety of my personal bathroom. It turned out to be a good move to wait until I was home, seeing as the shade Child Star made me look near death. Finding the right shade of matte, nude lipstick is a challenge: my lips are naturally very pink but I'm pale with warm undertones. Where does that leave me? I've learned via much trial and error that I need a nude with pink or mauve undertones. And this is how we've landed on Too Faced Melted Matte in Queen B, which glides on as easily as gloss but dries to a comfortable matte that I can barely feel. Oh, and doesn't make me look dead.
Sephora Collection: Contour Inner Rim Gel Eyeliner in Wide Eyed & Color Lip Last Lipstick in Coral Calling
Liner, $8, Lipstick, $14: Nothing says bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed like clear eyes (full hearts, can't lose). Seriously, when I'm tired my waterline is red and irritated. There's no easier way to wake up your look than with a nude liner, and this Sephora rendition stays put. The Sephora Collection coral lipstick is new to me, but out of all the brands the lovely sales woman showed me, it was the truest coral. Once I put it on, I was really sold. You seriously can't feel it at all, and a lipstick I can't feel one bit is the only kind I'll wear.
